Jean Monnet Actions Programme
Scoil Niocláis has received a grant in 2024 from the EU as part of the Jean Monnet Actions Programme . This initiative in our school is aimed at Learning about the EU , Digital learning , Multiculturism Education and the Introduction of a Modern Foreign Language.
We are fortunate to be the first primary school in Ireland to receive the Jean Monnet Actions EU learning Initiative Grant.
Our school has a tradition of teaching about Europe and EU citizenship .We hope to build on this foundation through engaging in this initiative. The introduction of a European language is novel and would help our school prepare for the transition to the mandatory introduction of a modern foreign language as part of The National Curriculum in 2026. Pupils learn 6 basics topics of an EU language . The focus is on fun and participation . We look forward to acknowledging the many European home languages of our pupils and learning the basics of a new language together.
